About the Producer

The Segovia Family business comprises six farms, each managed by a different family member. Collectively, these farms cover 14.5 hectares of land at altitudes exceeding 2,000 metres above sea level. The Segovias are second-generation producers. During the production season, the entire family is involved in both the harvest and post-harvest processing to minimise costs and maintain high standards.

The Region

Callayuc is a district within the Cutervo province of Cajamarca, located in northern Peru. This region boasts a typical tropical jungle environment, abundant biodiversity, and fertile valleys at its centre. The altitude ranges from 690 metres above sea level at its lowest point to over 2,800 metres at its highest. These geographical conditions support a rich variety of flora and fauna, with local producers cultivating the agricultural lands with permanent crops and natural forests, particularly coffee.

A short distance from Callayuc lies the Viluco Waterfall, also known as the "bridal veil." This picturesque waterfall is situated in a warm climate and is easily accessible to tourists. The journey to the waterfall offers impressive views characteristic of the northern Peruvian Andes.

Additionally, the Callayuc region features Cerro Pabellon, a mountain peak exceeding 2,200 metres above sea level, predominantly surrounded by forest. This peak is part of a local mountain chain with endemic characteristics and is considered a wildlife refuge. Nearby is the Cordillera del Wissus, also known as Huichus, which reaches a maximum altitude of 2,817 metres above sea level. This mountain range is home to reserve water sources and serves as a refuge for significant wildlife, diverse flora, and intertropical fauna.
