About the Producer

Honduras COMSA

Rich and smooth, Honduras Marcala is a beautifully balanced washed coffee that showcases the very best of Honduran speciality coffee. Roasted to bring out its natural sweetness, expect comforting notes of chocolate, roasted almond and green apple, creating a clean, satisfying cup that's equally enjoyable as espresso or filter.

Produced in Marcala, La Paz, this coffee comes from COMSA (Café Orgánico Marcala S.A.), one of Honduras' most respected speciality coffee cooperatives. Founded in 2001 by just 61 farmers, COMSA was created to give producers a more sustainable future through organic farming, better prices and access to speciality coffee markets. Today, the cooperative has grown to more than 1,600 members, becoming internationally recognised for producing exceptional coffee while investing heavily in its local communities.

At the heart of COMSA's success is its regenerative farming philosophy, known as the "5 Ms"Organic Matter, Microorganisms, Minerals, Fermented Molecules and Grey Matter (knowledge). This innovative approach focuses on improving soil health, biodiversity and farmer education, helping producers grow higher-quality coffee while protecting the environment for future generations.

After harvest, coffee cherries are delivered to COMSA's processing facilities, where every lot is carefully weighed, coded and quality checked to ensure complete traceability. This washed process highlights the coffee's natural sweetness and clarity, producing a cup with a smooth body, gentle acidity and a wonderfully clean finish.

COMSA's commitment extends far beyond coffee production. Through Organic and Fairtrade certification, the cooperative reinvests into education, sustainable farming and environmental projects, including the COMSA International School and large-scale agroforestry initiatives that have seen over 160,000 trees planted throughout the region.

Roasted as part of our Classic Range, Honduras Marcala is a coffee you'll want to return to time and time again. Sweet, balanced and incredibly approachable, it's a perfect everyday coffee that highlights why Honduran speciality coffee continues to earn recognition around the world.
