Gasharu Coffee

Rwanda

The story of Gasharu Coffee goes back to 1976 when 17 year old Celestin Rumenerangabo, planted his first coffee trees in Nyamasheke. A farmer and buyer of cherries, he grew the business to what it is today.

Our timeline

2020

Our very first lot from Gasharu, in the Kigali region, came as a 72 hours anaerobic fermentation Bourbon varietal!

2022

We're proud to be able to purchase Ireme for a second time! Gasharu continues with sustainable production of amazing quality coffee.

2023

We welcome back our third 72 hours fermentation lot from these incredible producers in Kigali in the past four years.

72hr fermentation

The Gasharu team takes great care to monitor and enhance the fermentation process and duration to achieve the desired complexity and depth that provides a very memorable experience.

'Your coffee, from our family'

With 2 washing stations now, Gasharu and Muhororo, they can export beans from nearly 1650 farmers directly. They have improved the sourcing and processing methods, encouraging curiosity about innovative ideas to take coffee to the next level, producing naturals, honeys and experiments. The coffee grows at an altitude of 1580-2100masl and has proven to yield an incredible cup full of flavour.

When can I buy this coffee?

Our projected time for receiving our lots from Gasharu Coffee is around February - May. If you're not here then, check out our current line up.
