About the Region
Gilcimar and his brother-in-law Jose Fortunado have been working together closesly for 8 years. They began working together after Jose married Gilcimar's sister. Like many farms in this part of Brazil, Gilcimar's farm has no name, but is a 12 hectare plot of land in the Castelo district. The farm is surrounded by Atlantic forest and is situated between 1020 and 1200 masl.
About the Process
Gilcimar focuses on the Catucai, Catuai and Yellow Obata varieties. Like a small number of talented producers in this area, Gilcimar is able to draw out lots of intense florals, dark and purple fruits and generally much more acidity and sweetness than other Brazilian coffees. It is for this reason that many of his coffees have won awards locally for their quality.
