About the Producer
Las Nubes, located in the Isabelia mountain range, is blessed with breathtaking views of waterfalls, landscapes, and mountains.
Victor Robelo at Las Nubes is the third generation of his family to cultivate coffee. The family were forced to leave the farm during the civil war, but he returned to buy back the land and resume coffee cultivation when he could.
Initially, they started with Caturras, Pacamaras, and Bourbon varieties, and later discovered the Java varieties. They now produce microlots aimed at niche customers who appreciate exceptional coffee with top-quality profiles.
The farms have been Rainforest Alliance certified since 2003, when they took over two abandoned coffee farms with a long-term vision of re-establishing the business sustainably.
The Process:
-
Picking and Sorting: Coffee cherries are picked and floated before going through a demucilager, which reduces water usage. The runoff from the channels is converted into fertiliser and reused on the farm.
-
Drying: The coffee is dried on patios or raised beds, ensuring the beans are carefully dried to maintain the highest quality.
-
Operations: All operations, from picking and processing to storage and export, are carried out on the farm.
